Month-by-Month Curriculum

Month 1: Reproductive Biology & Basic Lab Techniques

Reproductive anatomy and physiology, hormonal regulation of reproduction, male and female infertility assessment, semen analysis (WHO 6th edition criteria), sperm processing techniques (swim-up, density gradient), IUI preparation, and introduction to culture media and lab environment control.

Students spend significant time in the laboratory learning proper aseptic technique, microscope handling, sample identification protocols, and documentation standards.

Month 2: IVF & ICSI Core Procedures

Complete IVF cycle from insemination to fertilization check. ICSI technique introduction — micromanipulator setup, sperm immobilization, injection practice on surrogate oocytes. Oocyte handling and maturity assessment. Embryo culture setup using sequential media. Day 3 cleavage-stage embryo grading. Extended culture to blastocyst with Day 5/6 assessment using Gardner's criteria.

This is the most intensive month, with students performing hands-on procedures daily under expert supervision.

Month 3: Advanced Techniques & Clinical Exposure

Cryopreservation — vitrification and warming of oocytes and embryos. Sperm freezing and thawing protocols. Assisted hatching (laser-assisted zona thinning). Introduction to embryo biopsy for PGT. ART laboratory quality management systems. SOPs, KPIs, and accreditation requirements. Clinical observation sessions at partner IVF clinics — watching live OPU (oocyte pick-up), embryo transfers, and complete ART cycles.
